Chef Jacques' May Newsletter
Greetings, My mother likes to remind me that on the day I was born, her doctor showed up at the hospital quite drunk. Given that we were living in Ketchikan, Alaska, there was not anyone else who could fill in on short notice. Mom had to contend with an inebriated physician at the birth of her first child. For that, I think she deserves a glass of champagne on Sunday. Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there. If you are still looking for the perfect gift for mom, there are still some spots in my Mother’s Day cooking class on May 8th. You can click here to see the schedule of my May classes and to purchase tickets. Also, I would like to extend a special thanks to all of you who joined me for the first episode of my new Lewd Food cooking series. We have had two very enjoyable Friday nights of food and wine at the restaurant. These events are fun for me too (who doesn't like talking about sex?), and I think they are an excellent way to spend a Friday night. The next Lewd Food event is on Friday, May 15 at 7:00 pm - click here for information. Don’t forget that L’Auberge Chez François is now open for lunch Tuesday through Friday. The terrace is open, and the garden is in full bloom. This month I am including my recipe for asparagus soup. We are right in the middle of asparagus season, and this soup is delicious way to enjoy them. Asparagus are also good steamed and topped with a simple vinaigrette. This soup can be enjoyed warm or cold, and can easily be prepared a day in advance. Enjoy. Love begins in the kitchen, Chef Jacques |
